For the big holidays I decorate the table and chairs with kimono obi. Obi are hard to find; are of silk; if vintage can be fragile; and usually come dear. So, I asked the very gifted rug weavers to come up with some rag table obi. The designs are sophisticated - early America meets Shogun. The runners are 12" wide, vary in length and supple enough to fold and knot. They span the style spectrum from picnic to dining table. The ties you will see in some of the photos are obijimi - cords used to hold the obi in place. They are not for sale. However, I'll make a traditional corded fabric obijimi to match your selection of a Tres Trop Table Obi.
